ABOUT SKIPJACK®
HULL
CONSTRUCTION
HAND
LAID FIBERGLASS
100% hand laid fiberglass hull, deck and liner, squeegeed resin application
to remove all excess resin for optimum strength to weight ratio. First
skin laminate is Vinylester resin to resist blistering.
SPRUCE
STRINGER SYSTEM
A massive fore and aft solid spruce stringer system is encapsulated in
3 oz mat and 24 oz roving providing stiffness and strength for better
offshore performance.
BULKHEADS
Two 3/4” plywood bulkheads encased in mat and roving, glassed in place
from hull to floor, one forward and one aft. This method offers stiffness
throughout the hull, and safety by dividing the hull below the floor into
three separate compartments.
HULL-TO-DECK
The deck and liner are first bonded together with resin and mat. Second,
the hull and deck are fastened together with stainless steel #10 screws
nearly every 8” to retain proper height; then the entire joint is chalked
with marine chalking. Third, the hull, deck and liner are mechanically
fastened with 1/4” stainless steel machine screws, SS washers with SS
nylon lock nuts every 8”.
